KISS THE SKY
KISS THE SKY is a temporary, site-specific neon sculpture commissioned by the open air performance space Pjazza Teatru Rjal, and inspired by the same nationwide public debate concerning the venue's suitability as a roofless performance space in the heart of Malta's capital, Valletta.
The work references the legendary Jimi Hendrix's quote from Purple Haze, "Excuse me while I kiss the sky". The sculpture presents a positive message that rises above heated debate in order to present a positive message to the performer, one that invites the disregard of public opinion in order to forge ahead and embody the challenge that this outdoor venue presents.
